Eugenie Bouchard at Wimbledon. They are good at Wimbledon – they let you in with a 300 mm lens (that’s the longest allowed), unlike the ATP tour finals who claimed it was a professional lens, and the World Athletics Championships in London who let in a bunch of 200-400 mm lenses, some 600 mm lenses, and then quibbled with us over a tiny A7R + 300 mm lens (we actually rented that camera thinking it might avoid problems).
Hyacinthoides non-scripta. Taken on a Nokia Lumia 800. Did you know in the UK it is a criminal offence to remove the bulbs? Also, don’t buy Spanish bluebells – the British-Spanish hybrid is invasive and threatens our native bluebells. Also, the Spanish and the hybrid version haven’t got the lovely smell that these have.
This is just next to the tea room, which does a nice cream tea. The photo was a bit of a palaver. I have a ridiculous 10 stop ND filter, which is far too strong and prevents autofocus. Not only that, if someone walks on the bridge during the photo, due to the long shutter speed, the photo turns out blurry. I had to severely underexpose to get a photo in time. When we were very little, we used to swim in the pools under every waterfall. I don’t think they allow that now.
My daughter calls this “the 8 train,” because it has an 8 in the number on the front. We were lucky with the weather last year, and it was nice to capture #corfecastle in the background.
This is from a few years ago. I spent ages waiting for this shot while my daughter happily played in the mud! We were on holiday in Fife and my wife discovered the #isleofmay. On the first trip I was equipped with my 70-300 mm lens – of course, once inspired, I had to drag them all back with a 100-600 mm lens (next day delivery rental).
